so now we have 2 useless pve skills
Elementalist
Elemental Lord: decreased the bonus to Elemental attributes to 1.
Intensity: decreased duration to 10 seconds, increased recharge time to 45 seconds.
I have lost all faith in the skill balancer(s). Skills that were supposedly in the making for months, have to be completely changed within 3 days. Skills that were SUPPOSED to be more powerful than the rest of the skills are now not even good enough to make it into a skill bar. Hell, why are these skills even PvE only?

That's a story for other threads Thom, but it's a good point. You a PVP-er don't care, didn't ask for this nerf.
Intensity is useless now, the other one is subpar now. You could done better anet.

This isn't a fair way to balance PvE. These skills have been pretty hyped up for months now, and just because mesmers and paragons are unwanted in PvE doesn't mean that Eles have to get useless skills.

I don't think anyone in their right mind will now be grinding to level 5 or so friend title just to use an underpowered skill. I didn't even think Intensity was tremendously overpowered before the nerf.

I agreed with the Sin and Para PVE skill nerfs, since they were probably being abused by secondaries, but nerfing these 2 was just rediculous. Intensity was already mediocre to begin with, but now it's just useless. My spells were already killing stuff in the first place just fine in NM, but I'm not gonna waste a skill slot in HM to have it only affect me every so often.

I'm also an avid pve-er, and I'm pretty pissed off. I was even getting significantly higher damage in hard mode with intensity/elemental lord. Maybe it was making normal mode TOO easy, but wasn't it too easy already?

From someone that didn't really like those skills...
What are you thinking ANet? I thought elem were the kings of nuking, and now you nerf them so soon after giving them those iconic skills?
On the other hand... you managed to PvE without those didn't you?You're just a little less of an unstopable killing machine.
And well... Intensity will be pretty hard on its own but can still be used as a burst-mode, and Elemental Lord is still 1 stat up and still stack with Glyph of elemental power.

I found that the elementalist skills were the 2 most useful PvE skills, so I think the nerf is fair to the other classes. Eles are powerful even without those skills, so they don't really need the buff. I think buffing up the less useful PvE skills would have been better though.

Long time since i posted a msg in threads ^_^ been busy...
Was wondering though, are these monsters been calling out for nerfs too? Was just wondering. I was preety happy when i saw few proper skills for pve and had high hopes that they won't get nerfed since they can't be used in pvp. Well, i sure was wrong ^_^
Destroyer, sorry bro, but those "powerful skills" combined with searing flames produced a dmg boost of 24 against rangers in various areas. Not to mention, the total damage combined with intensity and elemental lord was just 66 points.

well, if that's just from 1 searing flames, doesn't that add up to almost 200 dmg in 3 searing flames? Also, don't rangers have higher armor vs elemental damage.
idk, either way the elementalist still feels really powerful now, so the buff isn't as necessary as it is for other classes. also, those were my first impressions of the skills, rather than my experience with them.

I hope you are not using that as your argument... right?
How about we discuss what mursaat bosses have against eles? 21 dmg with 16 attributes in fire with in Normal mode.
I will also mention that i play my ele for 3 hours at-least every single day, and been doing that for over a year now.

The ele skills were really boring skills, now they're really crap skills and still really boring skills. Even on MoR mesmer coverage is only 50%. Critical agility just got its more interesting applications, taking advantage of it being an enchantment (stacks with skills like warrior's endurance for example) effectively removed too, I'm more dissapointed on that front. Intensity and ether lord are a couple of the skills which really had to be pve only (this isn't true for a large number of them), for the sake of spiking, so it's a wasted opportunity really. I would have preferred more interesting ele pve only skills, for example an enhanced duration on dot aoes, which don't simply make searing flames more powerful.
e/a boss farmer with 20 earth sliver armour was pretty amusing, glad I got to give that a spin.
Anet are incredibly clueless, it's really tragic. And no, I didn't 'just' work that out. Seriously, do they actually test these things? Because seems like most forum-goers could tell this stuff was nerf-worthy in 3 seconds just from reading the skill descriptions.
Save yourselves is the only one left to nerf now (well, tntf being para only doesn't stop it being pretty stupid) but that one has a decent chance to stay due to the new AL cap. And maybe seed of life but it takes more work to abuse than others.

Well I guess current Intensity is pretty strong on an assassin's promise nuker, though I'm not really sure if +25% damage is superior to an extra dot or not. And probably e/a shadow form farmers, with sliver or fire skills.
This may well not be the final form, anet might be juggling between extremes until they get something they or we are happy with.

As if they are only class with useless skills? They gave Eles SF with NF and it was more tan any Ele could dream for. I just did some maths and SF is way better than any combo I used back when I played GW with Ele. It's staple now. Eles just don't need improvement, so they removed the so called buff.
phool how is that? more burning is more spike damage from SF. I mean c'mon all you need is two guys spamming it. At the same prices as I-bonds, afair.
